Diocletian’s Palace in Split

This view of Diocletian’s Palace in Split on the Adriatic Coast of the former Yugoslavia was taken by Anthony J Sargeant while on holiday in 1966. Diocletian (245-311 AD) was the only Roman Emperor to abdicate (in 305 AD)- whereupon he retired to Split (now in Croatia).
