Antique Persian Rug

Standard

We have a very nice early 20th Century rug (often ascribed to the village of Noberan) in the so-called ‘Lightening’ design.
The weaver has used an over-dyed green wool in the design which suggests a relatively early date. (there was no natural green dye available to the early weavers until the advent of chemical dyes and so the colour was achieved by overdying blue with yellow – the result is a very ‘flecky’ and often abrashed effect in the green wool.
