It was a strange summer – cool with lots of cool breezes and so although in the summer itself some flowers did not do very well in our Shropshire (UK) garden – others flowered late and gave a welcome splash of cheerful colour well into autumn: This clump of Rubeckia (often called Black Eyed Susan) is a case in point. Photographed by Tony in late September. But now autumn has set in with some seriousness and it already feels like the beginning of winter.
