Antique North-West Persian Rug

A wonderful antique large rug bought in the Netherlands by Anthony Sargeant over 20 years ago. Beautiful old vegetable dyes and excellent lustrous pile. The pale blue in the anchor medallion and elsewhere is notable, also the light over-dyed pea green and aubergine add a vivacity to this village rug. It has to be seen and felt in the flesh to really appreciate how lovely it is.

Despite going through the process of ‘slimming down’ our collection of carpets, rugs and textiles we will definitely hold onto this beautiful example. Despite the process of ‘de-acquisitioning’ we will still end up with many more rugs and carpets than we can possible use but the plan will be to keep some rolled up in our store shed and rotate the rugs on the floor and hanging in the house as the mood takes us.
